COVID 19 Update

COVID 19 Update

Dear Friends,

Please read this August update carefully. While many businesses have been allowed to reopen with restrictions, we at Wooly Farm have been trying to figure out a safe way for us to reopen.

We have been in touch with all the relevant Government Departments on how we can conduct our mobile farm safely. All government guidance will need to be complied with including social distancing, numbers of people/households in gardens or at events, contact tracing, hand washing and animal contact etc.

Unfortunately these restrictions are making it next to impossible for us to provide our service in a safe way. We have explored different ways of providing our services but there are just too many variables and we don’t want our events to be a vehicle for the spread of the virus. Coupled with this, and as you will have seen on the news, the events sector has been badly hit by the pandemic. People (quite rightly) just do not want to book/attend events for fear of catching the virus. The end result is that right now, it is not financially viable for us to recommence events. We are receiving too few bookings to cover the cost of our public liability insurance! In other words we would be operating at a huge loss!

To say we are disappointed is an understatement! We love what we do – we love showing off our beautiful babies at events and entertaining you all with our silly antics!

But we now need to take stock of the current crisis and give a clear picture as to our plans. We are going to suspend all Wooly Farm activities until 2021. Hopefully a vaccine will be found by then, and at that point we will be able to operate in a safe environment. The health and safety of our staff, animals and clients comes first. We are continuing to monitor the situation and are in regular contact with the relevant bodies. If circumstances change, you can be assured that Wooly Farm will be back on the road.

Provisional bookings can be made for 2021 by emailing info@woolyfarm.ie or calling us on (087) 367 6787, however, what we can offer will continue to adapt as guidance changes. We will not be requiring our usual deposit to secure your date, so please do book your visit from Wooly Farm.

We thank you for your patience and hope to see you with our animals as soon as possible!

Scary Mary’s Blog

Hello all!

I and everyone here at Wooly Ward’s Farm want to say a huge thank you to all our friends and visitors. 2016 was a momentous year as we had 20,000 visitors to our farm and 30,000 visitors to our Mobile Farm.

As we have so many families wishing to visit the farm, we now find ourselves in the position where we need to upgrade many facilities to give customers a better experience and to accommodate an even larger number. I’m afraid our little 300 year old farm wasn’t expecting such numbers!

For this reason, 2017 will be our year of reviewing and planning so we will not be hosting birthday parties or school tours here at the farm. I know this will disappoint many but hopefully we will see you again in 2018 for your party or school tour. I won’t know what to do with my weekends but my seven children are all very excited at the thought of spending more family time together.

However, we will be running the ever popular big events at the farm – Easter in April, the annual Teddy Bears Picnic in July, and our Halloween Extravaganza in October! We will update you with dates next month.

Of course we are still running our fabulous Mobile Farm! Our adorable animals are so excited to leave Wooly Ward’s Farm, and visit you for a change, at home or at work! Bookings are now fully open for hiring the Mobile Farm which is geared up and ready to go for any special occasion.

Wooly Ward’s Farm can’t wait to see all the Momma bears, Poppa bears and kiddie bears, and neither can all our cute critters!

See u all soon, love Scary Mary

Pumpkin Harvesting well underway in Fingal

It’s that time of year again when families nationwide are planning to decorate their homes with a pumpkin.

But for farmer Denise Buckley in Lispopple Swords, the yard is full of over 2000 newly harvested pumpkins ready to be delivered to Wooly Ward’s Farm for pumpkin carving over Halloween.

Denise is one of only two growers in North County Dublin who plant acres of pumpkins each year. This year the harvest is plentiful with the pumpkins having a great size. Denise puts it down to the mild weather conditions we have had over the growing season.

Just down the road from Denise, Mary Ward & her family (who happens to be a cousin of Denise’s husband) runs Wooly Ward’s Farm.

Wooly Ward’s Farm opened up in 2011 & offers visitors young & old guided activity tours of the farm throughout the year. Thousands of visitors have come in through the gates this year for school tours & days out & they are now expecting in the region of 5000 visitors over the week of Halloween.

Mary (known as Scary Mary at the farm) is looking forward to a fun packed Halloween Experience this year. “Apart from pumpkin carving, we have Owls from Newgrange Falconry, Reptiles, The House of Horrors, The Fuineamh Drum that was at Electric Picnic, our pantomime show – The Terrible Toothache staring Dracula & the three Witches – Mena, Mina & Mo and of course chocolate apple decorating as well”

Denise also supplies the 2000 apples needed for the chocolate apples & Scary Mary is delighted that she can guarantee her visitors home grown local produce from her cousins farm!

The Halloween Countdown Has Begun

Wooly Ward’s Farm is delighted to launch the 2015 Halloween Spectacular on the farm! Scary Mary will be opening the gates on the 24th, 25th, 26th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of October and she can’t wait to see everyone in their fancy dress!

Preparation has already begun for Halloween on Wooly Ward’s Farm. The pumpkins are growing in the field, the apples are nearly ready to be harvested and the owls and reptiles are pampering themselves getting ready for a busy week next month.

Come and Decorate Pumpkins, make Chocolate Apples, play the Fuinneamh Drum, visit the Owls, hold the Reptiles, brave the House of Horrors and enjoy our own original Halloween Show. Of course everyone’s favourite activities will be there such as pony rides, rides on Thomas the Tank Engine, the Petting Shed, playtime on the Tractor slide and more!

Warm up in  the Cackling Cafe with a hot tea/coffee and a slice of homemade cake or scones. Lots of treats available for the little monsters also!

We advise booking early to avoid disappointment. To book, choose your date below and follow the instructions. We are all so excited for our Halloween Spectacular this year, and we hope you are too!
